Shin Sei Kan

Japanese Sword Training develops self discipline in mind and body.

Shihan Peter James has been involved in the Martial Arts for over 45 years and has a passion for edged weapons.  He started training in Kenpo Karate in 1974 and went on to train in Kung Fu, Kick Boxing, and Tae Kwon Do.  After 12 years of empty hand Martial arts Shihan looked for a sword school and in 1987 commenced training in Japanese Swordsmanship (Shinto Seishin Ryu Kenjutsu).  He trained in that style to the rank of Kyoshi. In the last 30+ years he also studied many different styles of tactical and edge weapons and empty hand in the USA and in Australia, these included Kung Fu, Kali, Aikijutsu, Ninjitsu, Pencak Silat, fencing, rapier fighting, and American and Asian knife work.  He has attended a number of seminars on Western sword styles including German Long Sword, Rapier, English broad sword, and English Bo.   In 2011 Shihan attained the level of 3rd Dan in Zen Ken Ren Seitei Iai.  Shihan also practices Yang Style Tai Chi.

Shihan combined his knowledge into a style he named Shin Sei Kan (true or pure style) which contains a blend of the techniques from a number of styles he has trained in.  This is the style he teaches today.
